The FIFA Match Directors for this year’s event gathered in Zurich for a workshop. Zurich welcomed 21 match directors from various confederations and countries. Before, during, and after a match, a Match Director ensures that everything related to match operations is proceeded properly.

Football rules are probably not something complicated. Two teams, two halves, a half-time break, and a team of referees in charge of the football game and enforcing the regulations. The FIFA World Cup is no exception when it comes to theses rules.

Few people, however, are aware of the competition strings that guarantee that everything functions properly throughout a match. Actually, the FIFA Match Directors are charged of this crucial responsibility.

To maintain this high level, 21 match directors from various confederations and countries gathered in Zurich for a three-day workshop. Information on critical developments in match operations, essential tasks in a game & focal points, and other topics were discussed at FIFA’s headquarters.

FIFA is performing admirably, they are ensuring that game-related knowledge is shared and that we are genuinely international Match Directors. Concacaf Senior Women’s Competitions Head Latoya DaCosta said that “The training was quite useful, especially in light of the numerous obstacles we’ve experienced over the previous two years.”  “It’s great that we were finally able to meet in person rather than over Zoom“ Shengying Dai, the Asian Football Confederation Manager reports.
